Farmers raise cows in winter and often use calves outside the enclosure in cold winds. If the cow is standing still for a long time, it can easily cause frostbite. If the cows are housed in captivity, the cows are in a state of starvation and then attacked by cold winds in a humid and cold environment. This can also cause bovine limbs to suffer frostbite. Frost damage According to Wang Zhonghua, a post scientist at the National Dairy Science and Technology Innovation System and a professor at the Animal Science and Technology College of Shandong Agricultural University, frostbite is classified into superficial frostbite and deep frostbite. After superficial skin frostbite, the cows contracted strongly and caused tissue ischemia. After rewarming, the blood vessels expanded, the skin was congested, and the frostbite was burned, itchy, and there was swelling and heat pain. In severe cases, water blisters of different sizes were frozen. After two to three weeks, blisters were dry and dry, and fresh skin covered the wounds when the crust peeled off. The danger of deep frostbite is that the full-thickness skin and subcutaneous tissues are frozen and necrotic, with deep frostbite and bones, necrosis and ulceration, blackening, and dryness. Finally, the boundary between the necrotic area and healthy tissue is separated and the necrotic area rots and falls off. Frostbite prevention In winter, the cowhouse must be kept warm and cold. When the temperature is low, the cows should be brought into the house in time, and often the cowhouse should be checked for loopholes to prevent cold wind from entering. Storehouses should be kept dry and sanitary, and they should often be cleaned of feces and firewood or dry soil. In the cold and windy weather, try to reduce the outdoor activities of the cows. If necessary, you should also choose a place that is leeward and sunny. If conditions are available, necessary heating measures such as raw fire can be taken. Treatment of frostbite When dairy cows suffer from superficial frostbite, they cannot be immediately heated by baking or immersing in hot water. You can use white wine, pepper to rub frostbite, or use boric acid alcohol massage the skin. If frostbite occurs in the limbs and hooves, it is desirable to add hot water such as pepper, eggplant stalk and dried ginger. When the water temperature drops to 45°C, soak the frozen cow's limbs and feet into the bucket for more than 10 minutes each time, twice a day. For blisters at the frostbite site, the sputum can be drained with a sterile needle, partially wetted with 30% boric acid, dried, and smeared with 10% sulfur fishbone once daily. When the frostbite is swollen, it can be coated with 1% iodine solution, camphor ointment and so on. When the cow suffers from deep frostbite, the frozen part should be rewarmed as soon as possible. The wounded limbs were soaked in iron drums containing warm water, heated to about 42°C in 10 minutes, and slightly elevated in the frozen part to eliminate edema. Antibiotics should be used to prevent infection when frostbite is deep. Severe frostbite can be closed with procaine, prompting necrotic tissue to fall off as soon as the wounds heal. When the cow's breasts are slightly frostbite, the affected part can be washed with 0.1% rivanol, and then coated with compound sulfa ointment to enhance nursing. If the frostbite is severe, antibacterial therapy should be used to prevent infection caused by necrosis, and actively symptomatic treatment according to the degree of frostbite. Young cattle in open air or poorly insulated cows are susceptible to freezing. Should be quickly carried into the warm room, scrubbed with warm water as soon as possible, massage, in order to promote blood circulation. When the cows go out in winter, they should have proper activities to keep their blood and heat. They cannot stand still for a long time. To feed the rations with full-price balanced nutrition, add 10% of energy and 5% fat feed, feed the cows and drink warm water to enhance cold resistance.
