According to survey statistics, there are a total of 536 walnut trees that have died, of which 85 are 4-5 years old, and the rest are 8 years old.

So what should be paid attention to in the management of walnut trees? According to the company’s agronomist Shen Tong’an, walnut trees are intolerant to water. Long-term immersion in water will inhibit the respiration of the capillary at the roots of the walnut trees. Moreover, the roots of the fruit trees are exposed to a humid and oxygen-deficient environment for a long time, which can easily cause root rot and disease. Cause the walnut tree to die. Attention should be paid to the following points in management:

1. Water management. After the walnut is planted, it needs to be watered 2-3 times in the dry season of the year. The walnut tree is more sensitive to surface water and excessive groundwater level, so it should be drained in time. In areas with high groundwater levels, deep trenches can be dug to lower the water level. In low-lying areas where water is easy to accumulate, drainage ditches can be dug around to prevent the inflow of external water and remove surface water.

2. Set dry plastic surgery. Because of different walnut varieties, the fixed-drying and shaping techniques are different. The fixed stem shaping is performed after the walnuts grow to 80-100cm after planting, and 3 to 4 main branches are retained, which are scattered and layered or naturally open.

3. Pruning and shaping. Walnut pruning varies with young trees, fruit-bearing trees, and senescent trees. At the same time, during the flowering and fruiting period, appropriate thinning of flowers and fruits.
