At present, the temperature is high, and the laying hens are prone to heat stress, resulting in decreased production performance, reduced immune function, increased morbidity and mortality, and bring great losses to the chicken industry. The study found that adding certain drugs or additives by drinking water or condiments to meet the nutritional needs of the body and regulating metabolism can alleviate the heat stress of layer chickens. Heat stress causes increased secretion of corticosterone, which has an adverse effect on layer production. Vitamins play a key role in the synthesis of corticosterone. Vitamin supplementation can maintain the stable secretion of corticosterone during heat stress. In addition, vitamins mainly participate in various metabolisms in the body in the form of coenzymes and catalysts, so as to ensure that the body tissues and organs have a normal structure and function. Therefore, it is of great significance to add vitamins to laying hens in a hot environment. 1. Vitamin A. The addition of 9000 international units/kg of vitamin A to the basal diet had a significant effect on feed intake, egg production, and blood glucose levels in chicks, and the immunity of the individual against Newcastle disease was enhanced. 2. Vitamin C. Vitamin C can inhibit the synthesis of corticosterone in laying chickens under heat stress, reduce the concentration of corticosterone in blood, promote the synthesis of immunoglobulins, and enhance the body's ability to resist heat stress. Adding 0.02% of vitamin C to layer chicken diets can increase the egg production rate by 11.02%, reduce the ratio of eggs to eggs and the rate of broken eggs, and improve egg quality and economic efficiency. Adding 200 μg/g vitamin C to laying hens drinking water in summer can play a better role in improving the egg production rate by 9.16%, the ratio of feed to eggs by 3.32%, feed intake by 12.47%, and drinking water by 14.96%. There is a significant change in the blood composition of a chicken that is in a state of heat stress toward a moderate temperature. 3. Vitamin E. Vitamin E protects the cell membrane from oxidation and improves the body's immune function. Heat stress can reduce the effective absorption and utilization of vitamin E in laying hens, resulting in relative deficiency of vitamin E. The administration of high-dose vitamin E can reduce the permeability of the cell membrane, improve the production performance of laying hens under heat stress, alleviate the immunosuppression caused by the release of adrenal cortical hormones at high temperatures, and increase the disease resistance of laying hens. In the heat stress period, layer chicken diets supplemented with vitamin C 1000 mg/kg and vitamin E 250 mg/kg can significantly increase the egg production rate and reduce the rate of broken eggs.
