Evergrande invested US$3 billion to make Hainan a medical tourist attraction

Thailand, a tropical tourist destination similar to Hainan, has become the first choice for Chinese tourists to travel abroad during the Spring Festival.

Compared with Southeast Asia, Hainan's tourism cost performance does not seem so high. In Ctrip, the price of Hainan’s free travel on the 7th in June was about 7,000 yuan, while the free travel price in Thailand was about 6,000 yuan (choose the same level of hotels). Medical tourism has become Hainan's next goal

It seems that the tourist attraction in Hainan is indeed declining. In order to regain the favor of tourists, Hainan intends to start transforming into medical tourism. Medical tourism is becoming more and more popular in China. According to Ctrip's statistics, in 2016, about 500,000 Chinese went to foreign countries for medical services, an increase of more than 500% year-on-year, and per capita consumption exceeded 50,000 yuan.

Chinese affluent people prefer to go to the United States, Japan or South Korea to enjoy local medical services, and even India is a good choice. Foreigners are also happy to accept Chinese medicine for healthy travel.

According to Bloomberg, Hainan officials revealed that the Hainan government and large companies including Evergrande plan to invest $3 billion to transform a whole riverside village into a medical tourism center. From cancer clinics, Chinese medicine hospitals to plastic surgery clinics, the medical projects you can think of may be seen in Hainan in the future.
