Treatment of acute conjunctivitis

Three live leeches were placed in 6 ml of raw honey. After 6 hours, the immersion liquid was stored in a bottle for use. Daily eye drops 1 to 2 drops each time. Treatment of 380 cases, the vast majority of bilateral conjunctivitis, all cured. The cure time is as short as 1 day and up to 5 days. No adverse reactions were seen except for slight pain at 1 to 2 minutes after eye drops. It also has a certain effect on chronic conjunctivitis and pterygium.

Treatment of corneal fistula

The living leeches are placed in clean water for 2 to 3 days. After removing the body's mud and spit out the flaky scale, they are removed and weighed and placed in pure honey. The ratio of honey to mink is 1:2.5 or 1:3. About one hour after the contact with the leeches, the leeches die. The turbid liquid appears. It floats and then sinks. It takes a total of 6 to 8 hours. After the filtration, brown transparent liquid is obtained. Placed at 0 °C for 3 to 5 days, can be used as external eye drops, 3 to 4 times a day, each time 1 to 2 drops.

There were 39 cases with improvement (visualization was slightly reduced and narrowed), and 6 cases were invalid. 124 cases of cataract, markedly improved (visual acuity increased more than 5 times) in 65 cases, improved (visual acuity increased more than 3 times) in 51 cases, 8 cases ineffective; 37 cases of vitreous opacity, markedly improved (visual acuity increased more than 5 times) in 26 cases, improvement (vision More than 3 times increase) 9 cases, invalid 2 cases. It has been observed that hirudin is safe to use and has few side effects. Subconjunctival injections were performed more than 5,000 times, and only 2 were accidents: 1 case of preexisting glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure after injection; 1 case of hypertension (blood pressure 210/110 mm Hg), sudden drop in vision after injection. The topical eye drops have a good curative effect on simple corneal fistulas, and the general course of treatment takes about 2 months or more; while the curative effect on adhesive corneal fistulas is poor.
