Release date: 2014-07-04 Studies published in the American Journal show that simple eye imaging tests can detect the risk of stroke in patients. A £20 examination enables retinal imaging to detect retinal damage caused by high blood pressure. Studies have shown that patients with hypertensive retinopathy have a corresponding increase in stroke risk, so this test can be used as a new method to identify stroke risk. According to the Stroke Society, one of the main problems with stroke is that it is difficult to predict. Hypertension is a major risk factor for stroke, about half of the cause of stroke patients. Many patients have no symptoms before onset and many people are unaware of the risk of stroke. The study raises the question of whether this test can only be performed in a professional eye clinic as a routine test to predict the risk of a stroke. The examination itself is very simple, and the ophthalmologist can take a photo of the retina after dispersing it through a special eye drop. The effect of dilation is to expose the fundus further and then use the basement membrane camera to capture the fundus. The study performed retinal image acquisition on 2907 hypertensive patients who had previously had a stroke. The study also rated vascular damage or hypertensive retinopathy in the fundus of the patient. During a 13-year follow-up of patients, a total of 146 strokes occurred. After adjusting for age, BMI, smoking, and blood pressure readings, the researchers found a 35% increase in stroke risk in mild hypertensive retinopathy and a 137% increase in stroke risk in moderate and severe hypertensive retinopathy. That is, using drugs to control blood pressure, the risk of thrombosis in mild patients is also increased by 96%, and the risk of moderate and severe patients is increased by 198%. Research author Mohammad Kamran Ikram of the Singapore Institute of Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore said that the retina provides valuable information that reflects the state of the blood vessels. Other scientists commented that the study showed that ocular vascular injury can indicate the risk of stroke. Although the study yielded positive results, more research is needed to use this study to assess stroke risk. Source: Kexun Medical Network Industrial 100Hz LiDAR Solutions
Industrial Laser Distance Sensor of the IT02S & IT03M series are designed for measurements of moving targets. The LiDAR distance sensor is a ToF (Time of Flight) LiDAR sensor capable of measuring the distance to an object as close as 3 centimeters and as far as 15 meters! The LiDAR laser sensor is widely used in many innovative applications on the market, including smart dustbin, unmanned supermarket etc.long distance control system.
