Recently, Wei Haiming and Tian Zhigang, professors of the Institute of Immunology, University of Science and Technology of China, found that a large number of CD49a+Eomes+NK subpopulations existed in the decidua tissue of human and mouse early pregnancy, and promoted embryo development by secreting growth factors. Embryonic developmental restriction and repeated abortion are common pregnancy-related diseases, which are closely related to the abnormal microenvironment of the maternal and fetal immune system. Through the whole-genome screening, the research team compared the functional genes of NK cells and peripheral blood NK cells, and found that early pregnancy decidual NK cells highly expressed PTN, OGN and other growth factors important for early embryo development. HLA-G expressed by embryonic-derived extravillous trophoblast cells interacts with decidual NK cells to induce NK cells to express growth factors in large amounts and promote embryo development.
