Desert rose cultivation techniques

Desert Rose, also known as Tempo Flower, Dwarf Plumeria, and Oleander, is a flower of the family Apocynaceae. It is native to South Africa, East Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. 1, choose the right soil

Desert roses grow well in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy loam with moderate amounts of lime. Potted soil is mixed with 5 parts of river sand, 3 parts of pastoral, and 2 parts of pig manure. It can also be prepared with 3 parts of coarse sand, 1 part of rot leaf and a small amount of grass ash.

2, grasp the breeding method

Desert roses can be propagated by sowing, cuttings, layering and grafting methods. If the base of the stem is naturally enlarged by sowing, the cutting methods such as cutting and pressing are not effective. Because of self-infertility, it is not easy to be strong and requires artificial pollination. Generally sowed in the spring or autumn, germination suitable temperature is 20 ~ 25 Â°C, 5 to 7 days can germinate, as long as the tree reaches two years of age can blossom. Cutting propagation is best in the summer.

Batten propagation often uses high-pressure method, generally 25 to 30 days can take root, and 2 to 3 months can be cut and planted.

Grafting and breeding are carried out in spring and autumn. It is best to spend the spring of April to May in Quzhou, Fujian Province. The method of splicing is used and oleander is used as rootstock.

3, strengthen fertilizer and water management

The rose of desert rose should not be wet, and it should be watered once every 3 to 5 days. It should be watered once every day during the summer hot season, but it should not be affected by water, otherwise it will cause rot. During the winter dry season, the plants enter dormant normal fallen leaves and should control watering and stop fertilizing.

The desert rose was hi lush. During the growing season, pig manure or compound fertilizer was applied every 10 to 15 days, and potassium dihydrogen phosphate was sprayed in about half a month, and 2-3% of high-efficiency boron-zinc-iron-magnesium fertilizer was sprayed once a month.

4, control the light and temperature

Desert roses like warm, dry and sunny environment, resistant to heat and heat, drought and sun exposure, avoid moisture, not cold, slightly tolerant of shade, can be placed in adequate outdoor lighting maintenance. If the temperature is lower than 5Â°C, it will be frozen. To make it bloom in winter and Spring Festival, the temperature should be controlled at 20 to 25Â°C.
