What is an adventitious root?

The disadvantages of cucumber with adventitious roots

● First, the emergence of adventitious roots may cause gray disease. The incidence of gray disease on cucumbers is not much, but all plants with gray disease are caused by scion rooting.

● Secondly, after cutting adventitious roots, it is easy to show a layer of wax on the melon strips, which will seriously affect the brightness of melon strips and affect the quality of melons.

● Finally, these adventitious roots are often exposed and susceptible to external conditions causing death or infection.

The strong roots in the real sense refer to the stout main roots, lateral roots, and a large number of capillary roots in the soil. Measures to nurture strong roots must also be carried out around these three types of roots. Although cucumbers are prone to adventitious roots, sometimes it is necessary to deliberately avoid adventitious roots, especially adventitious roots on the scions. Therefore, whether in the seedling stage or the adult stage, the main lateral roots and capillary roots in the soil should be cultivated to reduce the occurrence of adventitious roots.
