It is understood that the Wuhan Institute of Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and the Institute of Virology of the Medical College of Wuhan University have jointly completed the intracellular study of the Hailong gene enzyme anti-avian influenza virus.
Zhang Quanshan, chief engineer of Wuhan Aeronautical Biotechnology Co., Ltd., told reporters that he had isolated and extracted sea dragon gene enzymes from the traditional Chinese herbal medicine Cordyceps sinensis in the 1990s. This enzyme can infiltrate the nucleus and inhibit the proliferation of the virus.
Professor Yang Zhanqiu of the Institute of Virology, Wuhan University School of Medicine, found that Hailong genase has a significant killing effect on the bird flu virus H5N1 in cells and has little cytotoxicity and safety.
This research has independent intellectual property rights. P3 Laboratory of Wuhan University is the first laboratory in China to carry out research on avian influenza virus, and had successfully completed research on SARS vaccine in 2003.
The bird flu virus is listed by the World Health Organization as the virus that poses the greatest threat to humans. At present, there are no effective drugs for treating bird flu viruses at home and abroad.
